Program - Laurel Riedel, Nurse-Midwife at Hennepin County Medical Center
Growing up the daughter of an Obstetrician I took for granted the telephone sitting on the dinner table and developed a curiosity about the sudden trips in the night. During my first career as a psychologist I specialized in women's health and was asked to lead cesarean support groups. In 1982 this led me to develop VBAC childbirth classes (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) for women who did not want to schedule a repeat cesarean. I soon returned to school and completed my masters in nurse midwifery. For the past twenty-four years I have worked as a nurse midwife at Hennepin County Medical Center. I have the privilege of disappearing into the night to help women and their families welcome a new baby into the world. My Day.Midwife means "with woman". I will share how on a typical day I go in and out of the lives of women on their journey to motherhood. It is my job to understand their personal and cultural beliefs about birth while helping them have a safe delivery. The focus is on empowering women and families while being open to the surprises along the way.  Journey of a Novel - $11 - Almost Everything by Tate Hallaway
The Third and Final in the Vampire Princess of St. Paul series.
Whoever said vacations were relaxing?
To say half-vampire, half-witch Ana Parker has boy trouble is putting it lightly—something her text messaging bill can attest to. Her rocker ex-boyfriend Nikolai is trying to heat things up again, and high school hockey star Mathew wants her to try out with him for the Renaissance Festival. At least her sort-of boyfriend Elias isn’t hounding her cell—considering the vampire knight is currently living in her basement.
Ever since her father banished Elias and Ana from the court of the Northern vampires, Ana has been trying to live a normal life. But when the Prince of the Southern Region vampires informs Ana that they’re on the brink of war and she accidentally offers up Elias as a peace offering, the princess knows that she’s going to need some help to get out of the situation.

Program: Tara Rose Daun - Marketing Yourself
From what I've seen, there's a wealth of poor people out there who don't know how to use their computer and the Internet to their full advantage. That's too bad, because there are plenty of free tools on the Internet and your computer to help authors and publishers market themselves. Some people will charge a pretty penny to do this for you, but I'd like to teach you the basic skills so that you can stop bothering your kids with questions they find stupid. As someone from the Flux generation, I'm pretty comfortable with the techno revolution, but I'm not a certified geek so I won't go off on jargon that makes you want to curl up and die.
Tara has worked for the past year on digital presence analysis of small businesses in Minnesota. She’s also been putting together covers, book trailers, websites, newsletters, and social media for authors and small businesses.

July 14, 2012 - Room 351
Craft - Superbad: how unleashing your villain can unlock your story - Susan Sey and Tamara Hogan
Superbad is a three part, interactive workshop on how building an exquisitely evil villain can help a writer shape a rough draft into something worth polishing. (This is a dress rehearsal of the presentation Susan and Tammy will give at the RWA conference.)
Part I: Tammy will argue that villains need to be powerful, worthy, and BAD. This section includes a slide show of memorable baddies and an audience participation piece in which we compile a list of our favorite villainous qualities. She will then demonstrate the benefits of creating a superbad villain, including compelling conflict, increased sales and how fabulous it can feel getting in touch with your inner sociopath.
Part II: Susan will explain how to use your shiny new villain to create a fabulous hero. She will first demonstrate that the very best villains have more in common with heroes than one might think (again using a slide show full of yummy eye candy and lists of our favorite heroic qualities). She will then argue that it’s easier to write a vicious villain than a heroic hero, which is why revising means stealing shamelessly from your villain. She’ll also speak about honoring the romance contract by always providing a HEA and an opportunity for the hero to distinguish himself from the villain by demonstrating commitment to a principle larger than himself--love, justice, country, faith, family, etc.
Part III: Guided Practice. Tammy and Susan will walk participants through an exercise in which they create a list of their top 3-5 favorite characteristics of both heroes and villains. They will then switch the headings so the hero list contains their favorite villainous qualities and vice versa. They will then spend 5-10 minutes writing a scene from a villainous or heroic POV.
Tamara Hogan (Taste Me, March 2011 and Chase Me, June 2012, Sourcebooks)
Susan Sey (Money, Honey, July 2010 and Money Shot, June 2011, Berkley Sensation)

JoaN - $11 - Twistered by JL Wilson
My name is Dorothy. I live in Kansas. I've seen a few tornadoes in my day, but nothing like the one that dropped my dead ex-husband, Wade, on my doorstep in a crushed motor home. Wade looked almost as beat up as the RV when he spilled from the back door, his red sneakers sticking out.
That was just the beginning of a crazy Memorial Day weekend when I won a big contest (complete with cash and a car), was accosted by a studly FBI agent, uncovered an old case of blackmail, discovered my ex-love might still love me, dealt with the Wickeds motorcycle gang, managed the annual charity dog show...and nearly died from a gunshot wound.
I almost had the feeling that I wasn't in Kansas anymore....

Chrysalis by Michel Prince
YA paranormal romance (released April 17th) from Rebel Ink Press

Bad choices are a Chisholm family trait, one that confounds the youngest child, Ellie, who's trying to separate herself by making smart decisions. Somehow Ellie has caught Oscar Jeffreys’ eye. Sure she could see the barriers between them. Race, age, popularity. They were at opposite ends of the spectrum. But a demon set to destroy her family? She can't see that.
Oscar provides security and acceptance Ellie never imagined she deserved. As the passion of first love grows, Ellie honestly believes she has a chance to beat the odds and live a happy, normal life. Then her world collapses around her. With the help of a guardian angel, Ellie learns of a world that has unknowingly surrounded her for years.
